BETER TOGETHER
following Jesus leads us to a place of UNCOMMON UNITY where we lay aside the labels that usually divide us for something much more life giving.
"For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ." 1 Corinthians 12:12
I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10

VALUES
Jesus is our message
Jesus is unrivaled in history and eternity. He is God and He is good. His Name is the only name that saves. His power is the only power that can raise us from the dead.
Our goal is not just to get people to church. Our goal is to get people to Jesus. That’s why we say ‘Jesus is our message’. We don’t want to be known by any other name.
Love is our command
It’s what we’re called to do...even when it’s hard. We don’t get a pass on loving others.
Jesus consolidates all of God’s law into ‘loving God and loving others’. It is simple and it is hard. Only by his Spirit can we really obey this command.
People are our passion
From those who are a part of our church family to those who are far from God. People are why we do what we do. People are our passion because people are at the heart of God.
Everyone is an image bearer. Everyone has value. Everyone is uniquely created. It’s our passion to see many people’s lives changed by Jesus.
Serving is our privilege
The greatest leadership is in service to others. We don’t serve because we have to, we serve because we get to.
God is letting us partner with him in building His Kingdom. It’s a privilege to play our part.
Generosity is our joy
We don’t give out of reluctance or compulsion because we give to what we love. We give first and more than what is required because we know that whoever sows generously will reap generously.
We give time, talent and treasure as a conduit of God’s grace so that others may know Him.
Purpose is our pursuit
We believe that every person matters and has a God dream. A call on their life to fulfill a purpose that is unique to them.
It’s our job to help people discover the purpose of their lives by helping them to Know God so that they can find freedom, discover purpose and ultimately make a difference.
Together is better
We believe the story we are a part of is bigger than the role we play. And since we are a church where Jesus is central, we already happily know that it’s not about “me.”
We support each other. We trust. We unite. We squash gossip and champion those around us. The only way to follow Jesus is in community. Life and faith are better together.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Methods may change but the message stays the same. As a community of faith we’re rooted in truth, the teachings of the scripture. Soma is built on certain foundational beliefs that give us direction as a church.
God
We believe in one personal God who exists eternally in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each member serves different functions yet is equal in power, authority and glory.

Jesus
We believe Jesus Christ to be the virgin born Son of God who lived in flesh, died for the sins of the world, was buried, rose again, and ascended to the Father according to the Scriptures. He lived a perfect life, so that He could be a substitution for us in satisfying God’s demands for perfection. He defeated death in His resurrection so that we can have life.

Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit who regenerates and indwells every believer of Jesus, assures us of our relationship with Christ, guides us into all truth, exalts Jesus and convicts of sin, God’s righteousness and the coming judgment. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and empowers us to be more like Jesus.

The Bible
We believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. We believe in the accuracy, truth, authority and power of the Holy Scriptures as God’s Word to all people. We believe the Word of God to be living, active and completely relevant to our daily lives.
Deuteronomy 4:1-2 Psalm 119:11, 89, 105 Isaiah 40:8 Matthew 22:29 John 5:39; 16:13-15; 17:17 Romans 15:4 2 Timothy 3:15-17 Hebrews 1:1-2; 4:12 1 Peter 1:25 2 Peter 3:16
Mankind
Mankind is made in the image of God and is the supreme object of His creation. We were created to have fellowship with God but became separated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, we cannot attain a right relationship with God through our own effort, but only by the grace offered through Jesus. Every human personality is uniquely created, possesses dignity, and is worthy of respect and love.

Salvation
We believe that the death of Jesus Christ was the final and complete sacrifice for the sins of humanity. Salvation is obtained by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. All who repent of their sins and receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord are born again into eternal life as children of God.

The Church
The Church is a people not a place. Those who have placed their faith in Jesus are knit together in one Body, a distinctive community of faith expressed in local expressions, engaging culture with God’s hope and love … a Church for which Christ will personally return. The purpose of the Church is to glorify God by loving him, obeying Him and bringing the gospel to the world.

Eternity
Man was created to exist forever. He will exist either eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is Heaven. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.
